Teacher Courses

The Teacher Competences Training Programme for World Music and Dance will give learners the confidence and expertise to prepare students of world music and dance for graded examinations and to work in educational establishments, fulfilling the requirements of the National Curriculum and providing musical experiences as part of a broader musical curriculum.

This unique course is for musicians who specialise in oral music and dance traditions from any part of the world.

There are two qualifications in teaching:

Level 4 Certificate in Teaching
Level 5 Diploma in Teaching

To achieve these qualifications, you will need to be teaching groups (small and large) in any or all of the following settings: privately, within a community organisation, in a school.

The Certificate in Teacher Competences is a vocational qualification. Assessment is continuous and students will be required to chart the activities undertaken and the learning activities outlined in the Course Book. The Course is designed at OCN Credit4Learning Level 4: three parts, Units A, B and C.

For the Diploma in Teaching a candidate’s abilities and knowledge are assessed in a variety of ways and include on the job assessment and a written exam. The Course is designed at OCN Credit4Learning Level 5.
