PRSSV provides bespoke training for projects that seek to promote an understanding of the heritage of BME and migrant communities.
PRSSV provides accredited qualifications in heritage skills, including oral history, exhibition development, digitisation and care of collections. These qualifications are accredited by OCN Credit4Learning which is a nationally recognised accrediting organisation. For example, passing Level 2 demonstrates that a learner is able to sustain academic study at GCSE-Level.

Please note that each level is a stand alone unit and it is not compulsory to do a lower Level in order to progress to a higher Level.
(i) Oral History – Introduction, Levels I, II & III
The Oral History Heritage Skills programme provides a practical introduction tohow to undertake an oral history interview; how to conduct, record and process oral histories; concepts of memory; formulation of interview questions; legal and ethical considerations; utilsation of technology to record and present oral histories etc. There will be opportunities to handle recording equipment and to discuss issues and relate examples relevant to the project being undertaken.
(ii) Collections Management and Interpretation – Introduction, Levels I, II & III
The Collections Management and Interpretation Heritage Skills programme provides a practical introduction to collections management; how to appropriately document, digitise, display and care for collections; the importance of utilising collections for learning; and how to effectively interpret collections. There will be opportunities to discuss issues and relate examples relevant to the project being undertaken.
Visits to our partner organisations including the Victoria & Albert Museum and/or the Horniman Museum can be arranged on request.
